这首歌最初是英国的Mike Oldfield创作的，很多网上的资料都说这首歌是纪念被枪杀的John Lennon On December 8th 1980, in front of the Dakota, a supposed fan, Mark David Chapman, fired five shots, hitting John in the chest. By the time he arrived at the hospital, John Lennon was dead. 1980年12月8日，马克．查普曼伪装成一个歌迷，在列侬的公寓旁边徘徊了很久。那天晚上，当列侬从录音棚返回家中的时候，查普曼请列侬在他的签字本上签名。当时他内心曾进行过激烈的斗争，但最后仍然举起手枪朝着列侬的后背连开了5枪。和Moonlight Shadow中所写的He was shot six times by a man on the run倒是有点类似；但看了原版的MTV之后，我却觉得这首歌应该和John Lennon的被刺并没有直接联系

似乎男主角死于一场决斗中，这倒象是普希金，但不知道普希金的妻子娜达丽亚会不会这样来怀念他．查了一下资料，曾经有国外的歌迷透露，Oldfield说起这首歌的灵感来源于Tony Curtis主演的电影Houdini，霍迪尼传(Houdini)是美国派拉蒙公司于1953年7月2日上映的电影，故事梗概如下：在举世闻名的幻觉大师哈利胡迪尼逝世十年后，他的遗孀贝丝找上一位灵媒,来为她召唤亡夫的鬼魂，之后便以倒叙手法回顾胡迪尼传奇的一生

但我觉得创作这首歌的才华出众但却忧郁无比的Mike Oldfield未必有所特指，或许没必要多去考证了，只需要静静溶入歌中空灵纯净的月光中即可

这首歌曲是黄磊2001年发行的一张专辑中的一首歌曲，歌曲背景取材来自沈从文中的《边城》;是描写一位湘西边境，一个名叫茶峒的小山城，渡船夫的孙女（翠翠），遇见城里来的大少爷的凄凉爱情故事。这样的题材，并不特别，但沈从文的文字却给这个故事无限的惆怅，因为他总是那么形同词理地关照每个人物的心理状态及其为人处世的社会背景。所以，他的小说，很少有真的恶人，因为这些“恶人”不过是被社会价值及道德所操控的可怜人罢了。后面爷爷离去，赖以生存的穿也别冲走，翠翠每日都在盼着他们的归来，可是一日又一日，依旧没有归来。此处省略N个字。
